An architecture contest of the edible kind is returning this November.
The Simcoe County Gingerbread House Contest is back after a pandemic-induced hiatus and will take place on Nov. 26 at the Innisfil IdeaLAB and Library.
All ages and all baking experience levels are welcome to try their hand at gingerbread house building at the event, put on by the Rotary Club of Innisfil.
Entries will be separated into age categories, with prizes for “Kid Bakers” aged 6 to 12, “Youth” aged 13 to 18, “Adult Hobbyists” and teams.
Rewards will be given out by a panel of four judges, including Beatriz Muller, who has appeared on the Food Network.
But one creation will stand above the rest — this year will feature a life-size gingerbread house made by Carol and Tim Hill.
Edible homes are not the only item on the menu for the event. A bake sale and a craft sale will also be part of the festivities.
“This festive community event brings together creativity, talent, and fun for all ages,” Rotary president Tim Norton said in a news release.
“With the addition of a bake sale and a craft sale, we expect there will be something for everyone.”
